Ms. Suen specializes in procuring patents for electronic and computer technologies. She has prosecuted patent applications for a wide range of companies, including various technology startups, Sun Microsystems Inc., Intuit Inc., Omron Corp., Schlumberger Ltd., Oracle Corporation and Apple Inc.

Ms. Suen has an extensive technical background stemming from both academic studies and industry experience. Her areas of expertise include signal processing, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, file systems, computer networking, embedded systems, distributed systems, computer security, and enterprise software.
Ms. Suen’s engineering experience includes work on a software-based system for controlling piezoelectric membrane deformation at Aerospace Corp. In addition, she created an FPGA-based prototype gigahertz digital sampling oscilloscope for Xilinx Inc. At Myvest Corp., she developed the UI and business logic layers of a J2EE investment management application.

Ms. Suen is a co-inventor on a patent application in the fields of image processing and adaptive membrane shape deformation in antenna systems.

Teaching and research experience
Ms. Suen participated in NASA’s Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program in 2005–2006. For the program, she proposed, designed, built and conducted an experiment that investigated the behavior of magnetorheological fluids in microgravity under varying magnetic fields using diffusing wave spectroscopy.
At Caltech, Ms. Suen developed teaching materials and assignments for the undergraduate course CS2: Programming Methods. In addition, she prepared grades for and assisted students with assignments in the course.
